Yuletide 2011 Dear Santa Letter
YAY! Another Yuletide is upon us!! And, once again I feel just a wee bit guilty recyling a-lot of this from my old letters, but it's still all true, so why mess with a good thing!
Dear Yuletide Writer/Yulegoat/Santa,

Hello!
First and foremost, I'm just thrilled that you'll be writing for one of my chosen fandoms. That in itself is fabulous, and I'm appreciative and excited and I certainly hope your assignment is something that you enjoy! Now, I know that there are many different ways that writers like to work, and while I'm not particularly picky about anything (well, except pairings) and I welcome whatever interpretation and direction you choose to go in; I'm also more than happy to provide some general thoughts, feelings and preferences for you to build off of as well.
I'll start of with more of a general description of my likes and dislikes in fandom, and then I'll move on to more specifics for each of my selections. Please be assured though, that I'm open to almost anything - so this information is by no means 'absolute'. I want you to have fun writing this - I wouldn't want it to be a chore. So please do whatever is most comfortable for you. If, upon reading the fandom you offered, an idea sparked in your mind - run with it! You don’t even have to keep reading!
That being said, I'm pretty easy to please. While it may not be applicable to all my fandoms - my absolute favorite fannish trope would definitely be 'First Time' fic. The types of situations where the character(s) finally come to awareness / understanding / terms with how they feel about each other. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing and it can simply be about just admitting feelings, or it can absolutely include first time sex, or sexual activities.
So, obviously I don't mind teh porn. heh. (And slash considering the pairings!) But I'm not insistent upon it. I'll enjoy everything from G-rated gen all the way up to hardcore NC-17. And if things get porny - plain ol' vanilla sex is great, but I'm not too easily squicked and I don't mind mild to moderate kinks (everything from toys, to food play, to mild BDSM). The things I'd prefer not to see - please no character bashing, deathfic, partner betrayal, noncon, permanent injury, hardcore BDSM, extreme kink (watesports, bloodplay,etc), humiliation or permanent genderswap.
So - considering that sometimes those first time situations can result in strong emotions, I'm obviously not afraid of angst, but I also enjoy action and humor and most definitely romance. Hurt/comfort is dandy as well, and considering a couple of my fandoms, violence could be expected. Please, no death though (except as it happens in canon). I love these characters and wouldn't want to see any of them die. And, I'll admit: I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
I realize all of that is pretty general - if it's enough to get you started, great! But if you'd like more specific thoughts, I'll list them below as they relate to each fandom.
Tanya Huff - Gate of Darkness/Circle of Light - Roland/Evantarin
As I mentioned in my request, I absolutely love Roland. He is probably my all time favorite character in fiction ever! So, anything that is centered around him would be so appreciated and adored. Feel free to weave in any of the other characters as well. Obviously in the end of GoDCoL, he’s dealing with the whole ‘love for another guy, even if said guy is an angel’ thing, so maybe toying with how he’s dealing with that would be fun. Roland is probably the reason that I have an absolute ‘thing’ for men who can sing, so something to do with his last 7 years of becoming a Bard could be interesting too. And he's an adventurous kinda guy now - so plotty, case-type fic would be cool also (and heck, cross-overs are more than welcome here! Especially with other Huff universe - Roland and Tony/Lee together would be wild!) But, really, anything to do with Roland would be so fantastic.
Tanya Huff - Valor Series - Ressk/Werst
The first time I read the second Valor book, The Better Part of Valor and met Werst, I wanted nothing more than for him to be able to meet Ressk. Werst was one of my favorites from Valors Choice and I just so badly wanted those too to meet up. (They were my instant OTP) Then Tanya made that happen in Valor's Trial and I was beyond thrilled. They were like a Krai buddy-cop team. And then the most recent book came around and needless to say I was over the moon! So, all that being said - any kind of story that contains Ressk and Werst being awesome would be the best thing in the universe. I'd love to get a peak at how that relationship got started, or see them on more adventures with Torin, or maybe explore the Krai culture a little bit.
Justified - Raylan/Tim Gutterson
This is one of those requests that I hadn't necessarily planned on making during all of my yuletide prep, but the idea just kind of jumped up and bit me. As I said in my request, I love both Raylan and Tim and want to see them in action together - which is why they were specific to my request. But that being said, I also just love the entire Justified universe and all the characters therein. I'm open to reference to canon relationships and definitely not opposed to hints of things like Raylan/Boyd. What happens between Raylan and Tim can definitely stay platonic, or USTy, or can sure as heck be porn-tastic! Case fic, or character exploration or even just two guys in a bar drinkin' together would all be welcome.
Warehouse 13 - Steve Jinks & Claudia Donovan
This is another show where I do love the entire ensemble cast, but as my details mentioned, I just feel like we didn't get enough Steve! I adored him and felt like he and Claudia had such an awesome relationship that wasn't explored enough on screen. The rest of the warehouse crew can absolutely show up and get involved but I'd love the focus to be on Steve and Claudia. So, I'd totally love some whacky artifact-related adventures. Or if you want to tackle the season finale and what happens afterwards (especially Claudia and the metronome) I'd welcome that as well. Heck, if you just wanna write crazy sex-pollen type shenanigans, go for it. Just keep Steve and Claudia center stage and I'll be thrilled.

More than likely you're just even more ready to strangle me now than you were before. *wry grin* - But I know I'll be happy with whatever you do!
