I did not want to update about my first day until I actually had all of my classes. So let’s start! Yesterday I went to pick Tara up with Liv. It was about 20 minutes before school- and I live 2.5 minutes from school. Guess what time I got to school? Right before the bell rang. 2500 people all starting at once, and trying to get in a teeny tiny parking spot is not working out. It was insane. Two lanes stuffed full all trying to merge into another lane to get in a one-lane entry into the parking lot. I was about to pull my hair out in frustration!
My first class was AP English Literature. I like it so far. There are a lot of IB kids- I think there are only five AP kids in that class. It should be interesting- generally, for English, I like the IB method much better. The teacher is so funny- and she’s a total oddball. I have heard nothing but good things about her so I’m not worried about that.
My second class is Film and Language. I was originally going to drop that class, but I got totally hooked the first day. Parsons is so funny and I have a bunch of friends in that class. They aren’t too good of friends but I was really glad to see a friendly face.
My third class is AP Chemistry. We did a lab with cooper and sulfur- and the gas was overwhelming. We had to boil it in a little crock thing with a cover, and I took the cover off to see if it had completely reacted yet, and WHOA I got the biggest whiff of gas that nearly made me fall backwards! It was horrible- my eyes were watering and I had goggles on. I also spilled hydrogen chloride all over my drawer but it was funny seeing people run all over trying to find some baking soda.
I don’t have a fourth period class... and the next day (which is today) I didn’t start till 11:30. That is so nice, I’m telling you. When I go in college I’m SO going to take all afternoon classes. Maybe.
My only class today was AP Statstics, it turns out that Sky Johnson and a bunch of other people are in that class. We goofed off and the teacher is so weird. He kept saying the most stupid jokes, like "this is a bar graph, NOT a bar graph!" Whatever.
Beign a senior is weird for several reasons. Last year we had this insane but great schedule- nine 45-minute periods everyday but with the block schedule everything is just so slow. And I’m so used to last year’s seniors being everywhere- some of them were my closest friends at school and I keep seeing people like them and I’m like "yo!" but then I realize it’s not them. Another part if it is that for the longest time I’ve been looking forward to being a senior and now that I’m one it’s just not a big deal. I’m still shorter than everyone and people still push me in the halls. I was expecting fireworks and a parade and all I got was a crapload of homework. Speaking of which, I better get started on that.
