fic recommendations
Guys, I promise I'm going to work on having more of a life and updating less. xD
Vacation's over, so that means fewer random updates. Please, hold your applause.
Anyway, perkyandproud and I were talking, and she recc'd a story for me and vice versa. But I don't want to be greedy and keep them between just us, so I thought I'd share the metaphorical cookies in my metaphorical cookie jar.
I have a lot more, but most of them are shorter pieces. Also, if you have anything you'd like me to add or you'd like to recommend or share, that'd be awesome. :] (P.S.: I just realized I'm missing one. Like, one of my favorite ones, and it's not bookmarked. Basically, Seifer has a key to Ma Dincht's house, and he's too tired to go to Garden after a mission, so he lets himself in. GrumbleGrumbleSnarkSnark when Zell finds him in the shower; Seifer pulls him in with him, clothes and all. Yeah, if that sounds familiar, you know what to do, thanks.)
I'm kinda flirting with the Squall/Irvine ship, so pass stuff this way. And I'm always up for new Seifer/Zell stuff. :]
Handcuffs - Seifer/Zell, Nida - PG-13 - thebaconfat was one of my first favorite Seifer/Zell authors. The characterization in this particular fic blows me away every time. The anger, the frustration, the snark. Everything I love about Seifer/Zell is there.
Got My Hands on the Wheel... - Seifer/Zell - PG - thebaconfat - Seifer and Zell in an established relationship, having car troubles. This one always makes me laugh. Her Seifer and her Zell just melt together so well. Also, extra points for the last bit with the reference to in-game details.
Bottle of Fic! - (most of?) bottle_of_shine's works all in one place. This makes me happy.
No Laments for the City of the Dead - Seifer/Irvine, Squall/Rinoa, (Zell, Quistis, Selphie in the background) - R - Post-game; crazy virus outbreak, turning people into vampires. I don't want to say too much and spoil it. The tone fits, and it's an eerie read at times, but I love love love post-apocalyptic type stuff, so it has a special place in my heart.
A Taste of Summer - Rinoa/Seifer - PG - bluecorsair - A glimpse at the Rinoa/Seifer summer. It was almost painful to read, even as short as it is. The imagery is fantastic. It's fleety, and it burns, much like summer love sometimes does.
Chasing the Sunset - Surprise character, Rinoa - PG - Wayward_Tempest - Warning: it's a character death fic, and it gets me every time. Have tissues ready.
Seifer/Zell - Seifer/Zell - PG - grayout's entry for 1sentence. I'm a huge fan of his characterizations.
Our Distance and That Person - Seifer, Zell - PG - grayout for 30_kisses. Again, his characterizations rock. His Zell is passionate, and that's what I like to see.
Win-win - PG-13ish - grayout - Zell suceeds in throwing Seifer off. This one makes me laugh. Every. Time.
Choices - Seifer/Zell - G - edenbound - Bored on a mission. Short and sweet.

Effect - Seifer, Zell (Seifer/Zell if you squint) - PG - mercuriosity - Berserk status effect. I love the tone and the imagery and the vocabulary.
Could I Be You - Seifer/Zell - R - T-Bandit - "A confrontation and a botched mission bring Seifer and Zell closer together as Seifer struggles with recovering from Ultimecia's control." Not that I like to see Seifer struggle with returning to Garden, but I do like to see his transition back. You can't just skip over that and everything be all happy and rainbows. This being said, I enjoyed watching Seifer grow here.
We Fight Like We Dance - Seifer/Zell - PG-13 - irishais - "Zell believes he is on his deathbed." I did mention how much I love their fighting and snark, right?
The Epic Quest of Forgiveness and Forgetness - Seifer/Zell, Selphie, Irvine - PG - melissagray - The prompt: Final Fantasy VIII, Seifer/Zell: reunited - "Funny meeting you here, asshole." Drunken Selphie is too sweet. And again, more Seifer/Zell snark.
That Which Devours - Squall/Rinoa, Xu, Seifer, [OC] Talon, [GF] Eden, (Zell, Quistis, Selphie in the background) - M - DK - "To regain the life he once knew, Squall Leonhart must face a foe impossibly alien... and as familiar as the back of his hand. Parodies don't always have to be funny." I don't want to give away too much, so we'll leave the author's summary. This story is quite possibly one of the best things I've ever read. The concept, the plot, the imagery is all very haunting, and it makes me sad for those involved. - Warnings: language, extreme gore, character death, slight sexual situations
Fly - Seifer/Quistis - M - DK - "Seifer and Quistis spend a pleasant evening at home." Again, I don't want to give away too much, but I love his Seifer here. It shows just how mentally and emotionally hurt Seifer is without turning him into this emo punk. On the other hand, I don't like how he protrayed Quistis, and you'll see why. Warnings: Language, sex
Adrenaline - Zell, (Irvine, Selphie in the background) - PG - Magistrate - "Zell one-shot. Self-preservation is key." Missile Base incident through Zell's eyes.
