Inspired after seeing lauriethemuppet's default replacement paintings, I had a go at making my own. I came up with two different sets: one of random paintings (all images I found through Google images, so I have no idea who made them or anything, oops), the second set is made up of paintings featured on Heroes, which I got the idea for when one of the paintings turned up in a search for the other set.
These are default replacements and will replace all of the Maxis paintings into these in your game (not including custom ones, just the regular ones). Only have one set of defaults in at a time etc etc.
