5K time!

Nov 08, 2009 15:09

As usual, my updates are few and far between. And now, I'm updating mostly because I should be doing other work related things. Such is the life :-)

I ran the Turkey Trot 5K this morning with Colleen and was pleasantly surprised. I ran it in about 26:30... still waiting on that "official chip time", which puts me at about 8:30 miles! The first one was slow, 9:15, then I picked it up for the 2nd and slowed down a bit for the 3rd.... I'm definitely not in shape right now! Overall though, I'm happy. I was shooting for 26-27 minutes, I think I hit that well :-) This is good training too, I am hell bent on doing the Madison Half Marathon again this year, and in under 2 hours... I'll have to drop 7 minutes from last year... but, if I actually train, I think I can do it. After the run today I got that runner's itch again and hope to sign up for the Jingle Bell run in Madison Dec. 12th, maybe do a 10K (6 miles) this time, see if I can hold onto that 8:30pace, that would rock! Now i just need to find time to run and get all of my school-work done... oye.

On another note, school is going well. We are a quarter in (already!) I'm supposed to be finishing up report cards now, will have to start when I'm done :-). Then we've got conferences, Tony finally turns 23, Thanksgiving with both families again... it never ends! I'm also toying with the idea of going to grad school next year. We'll see what happens with work and Tony's job first, but... having a masters would be kind of sweet. I found a really cool program that offers a "Learning Community" approach. I could take the classes at the high school, which would rock one weekend a month for 2 years. It's also very very affordable. I'm finally at that point where I could consider going back to school again, I was hell bent on not getting my masters for a loooong time last year, I was so burnt out from school. But now? I'm 1.25 years in, know what I'm doing now and would love that extra professional development! Guess we'll see how life pans out. And now, onto report cards! (or a movie....)
