I didn't perform all my given tasks to the best of my ability, but the week is almost over and I can almost relax! Well, actually, right now I have to stop relaxing and finish my work. But I'm just chilling right now, browsing the internet and eating popcorn. I get the whole weekend off! After my meeting tomorrow afternoon, I get to go home and don't have to do a thing until the basketball game Sunday afternoon. I should probably go get JB's birthday present sometime too. His birthday is Friday and he'll be 25! He says he's not freaked about it, and that's good.
Last night over dinner, we decided that maybe when we have kids, assuming we'll have government jobs, we'll each work 4 10-hour days when the kids are little so we'll only both be working 3 days a week, and when the kids get to be school age, we'll stagger our starting and leaving work times so someone will be there when the kids leave for school and when they get home. And then with both of us working, we'll likely start out at 50K a year, so we can go ahead and get his student loans paid off, get a cute little lapdog, save up and buy the house of our dreams (which will include 4 bedrooms and a home theater), then get settled in the house and have kids in the following few years. Two kids, and we've already got the first boy's name picked out (Robert Phillip) and We'll make sure to put enough money in the college fund so our kids can go to school anywhere they want, then we'll retire in our 50s and travel and spend lots of time at the beach and spoil our eventual grandchildren rotten. So now I've got life totally planned out, right? I just know I'm going to think back on this and laugh, because what are the chances of that actually working out exactly like we want it? But for right now it's nice to think about it working out so nicely. Ah, the American Dream!
But in the American Reality, I have homework to do and the cat has finally noticed that there are fish so temptingly just out of reach. I need a fast-forward button so I can just magically get to 3 PM tomorrow.
