Super Uber Fantastic Mega Weekend, part un

Jun 02, 2008 21:30

So the guy that's been working on making all my dreams come true knocked out a couple more this weekend. He worked into the wee hours of the morning Monday through Wednesday of last week so that on Thursday we could meet Karri and Greg at DISNEY!!!!

I'm not really sure where to begin with the short Disney vaca, other than to say it was simply the best trip to Disney EVER. It was fun, relaxing, and exciting all at the same time. The company was flawless. The lines were short(ish). The food was supercalifragilisticexpealidocious. No one was psychotic about having to do more. The jokes were funny (Disneyshire). Oh, and there was booze.

When I first heard we were going to be spending time at Disney, I mentioned to the love monkey that there is a restaurant IN the Pirates of the Carribean ride that I've always wanted to go to. I had no idea about the name, how to get there, or anything else other than its existence. After some discussion with K and G, he took care of some reservations for Thursday night. It was EVERYTHING I had hoped for plus some. The food wasn't like the best food ever, but my steak was cooked EXACTLY the way I liked it and everything was just really solidly good. The ambiance was great. Greg ensured that both Karri and I got a souvenir cup with a light-up Captain Hook straw (or cleavage) holder. I would go back in a heartbeat, every time I'm there if possible. Which, by the way, might be often since Tom got us annual passes. :)

There were a lot of little things that made the trip super cool. I had never walked through The Swiss Family Robinson's Tarzan's treehouse. It turns out there's a reason, but whatever. I wanted to do it and I got to. A hokey Indiana Jones beating up a bad guy show held us up a bit before we could go through. He wasn't geriatric so it really wasn't realistic, however.

After spending most of the day in the park, we landed at Downtown Disney for drinks and a bit of food. This is when the severely endangered, previously thought to be extinct 4-martini-Jen made an appearance. Glowing blue drinks that are now known as "happy blue juice" contributed significantly. It's all good, though, as a drunk Jen is a seriously jovial Jen. Great conversation and lots of talk about camp made for a really, really great evening.

We left the hotel bar late enough that there wasn't a taxi to be seen. Or any other humans for that matter. We made it back to our hotel and CRASHED.

Oh noooo!! A rare California dinosaur attack!!

Friday morning(ish): Original Pancake House. YUMMMM. When we finally hit the park for the day, we started in California Adventure. So much can be said, but in summary: I still don't love roller coasters, but I'm crazy proud of myself when I manage to ride them. Karri doesn't like to be soaked at Disney. Beer taps = booze. Muppets in 3-D are kewl. Pirates are kewler. Friends are the kewlest.

Super-soaked unhappy Karri = nervous Greg

Friday night we headed across the bricks and back to Disney to catch the fireworks. Holy moley. TONS of high-end fireworks were expected... but Star Wars-esque laser beams, flames whose heat could be felt a quarter of a mile away, and a human Tinkerbell flying around were also part of the show. Have I missed anything? Probably. Oh, the high-end fireworks were all around the park, shooting out of buildings you would never have expected. Every firework explosion was perfect. Granted I hadn't heard a ton about the show, but like the rest of the weekend, it exceeded every expectation I had.

We made it to the far end of the park after the show to get the pirate monkey a "drinking circle hat". I shall say no more other than... well, it's a hat. An interesting hat. At this point, life was starting to catch up with us; feet were starting to hurt and it was tired. (I just went back and read that; I realize it makes no sense whatsoever and don't know what I was trying to say, but in a weird way it gets my point across.) We once again headed back to the hotel (but this time on the free shuttle and with other humans present) and crashed.

Saturday we left the Magic Kingdom and headed South, by way of severing the LAST of my ties to the OC! *can I get a HELL YEAH?!?!* The weekend fun was... shall we say slightly different than Disney, but the fun certainly continued.... For now, the Jen monkey needs sleep.

...to be continued.
