Not-Halloween 2009 and a birthday party...

Nov 09, 2009 12:21

So! It is that time of the year already, except we had to delay our not-Halloween party from 1st of November to 8th, because one friend could not attend otherwise, and then again, 9th would be a birthday for an another friend... soooo... we crunched the parties together.

This is the table, laid out. It is still missing some items, as in the end the table was extremely full. People had to empty plates to get themselves some room.

Tentacle nests! I had three variants: one with Brie, one with Aura (blue cheese), one with Mozzarella-Swiss mix. All tentacle nests had bacon and chopped egg inside of them as well as an octodogged wiener (manual version, so instead of eight tentacles, there are only four).

You have no idea how much trouble this cake gave to me.

I had two tries of cooked fondant, which resulted me wasting two pounds of sugar and being eternally grateful that this is no longer 16th or 17th century, as the chef would whip me for making such waste. So instead of fondant, I made sugarcreme frosting, and this seemed to work better.

The pool of green jelly escaped into the cake despite me using white chocolate to cement the pool where it was supposed to peacefully reside and provide nutrition to the brain. Some remained on the bottom when I plopped the brain in. Luckily, the brain filled the hole anyway, so this was no huge deal.

Nonetheless, the Mad Science cake was declared a success.

After we stuffed ourselves full, we watched The Incredible Hulk (the new one, not the Ang Lee one) and had more great time together.
