The front desk clerk at the Marriot is being nice enough to let me use his computer to update right now. People keep walking up to me to ask for more towels or directions to Graceland, but then they see my dirty cycling jersey and headphones and realize I'm not the one to talk to.
Yesterday, after around 37 miles of riding, I was bitten hard by the urge to ride 100 miles for the first time. All day long, I pedaled as if it was a foregone conclusion that I was going to break the century mark for the first time. With the sun gone and 93 1/2 miles down in Springfield, Tennessee (State # 9, by the way), I found a motel on the map that would put me just beyond the goal.
I finished the day with 102.80 miles, eclipsing my previous personal best of 86.36. Today I'm in Nashville, disappointed that their full-scale model of the Pantheon in Greece is closed on Mondays. I should make Knoxville by Thursday or sooner.
Rock on.
