_______

₪ You’re Cuter With Your Mouth Closed
Heechul | Eunhyuk
503 words

It was difficult for Heechul to ignore Eunhyuk’s presence.

He was absurdly pathetic that day; the way he slumped on the floor, his eyes glassy and glued to his hands, the way he sighed every thirty seconds -- his mind was clearly plagued with something, like it always seemed to be as of late. It nauseated Heechul to even glance at him, so he simply decided the best course of action was to ignore him, something that was normally extremely easy.

That was, until Eunhyuk let out a pained sob.

“Hyung, I don’t know what to do,” He cried, stretching out on the ground like Heebum had been doing not twenty minutes before. “I don’t know what’s gotten over me!”

Heechul flipped to the next page of his magazine (Vogue) and sighed. “What is it, Hyukjae?”

“It’s Donghae,” The younger man sobbed, his chest heaving as he attempted to control his emotions. “He’s all I think about, and I don’t know why!”

Heechul flipped to the next page and eyed an article - Simple and Effective Ways to Prevent Wrinkles. “Ooh, interesting.”

“It’s not interesting, it’s weird!” Eunhyuk rolled over onto his stomach and stared at his hands again, not seeming to notice that Heechul wasn’t paying any attention to him. “I...I’m starting to think I’m in love with him!”

Heechul noticed one particular step on how to prevent wrinkles - control your facial expressions - and his eyes widened involuntarily; Eunhyuk took this as his cue to go on.

“Okay, okay, I admit,” Eunhyuk stood up and began pacing, and Heebum’s ears perked to attention. Heechul gave the cat a small scratch on the head. “I’ve known I’ve been in love with him...for a while now.”

More animated expressions mean more creases, and creases mean more wrinkles. “Huh.”

“Yeah...when I see him, my heart jumps to my throat and skips beats...he’s like the sun that breaks apart my cloudy day. I don’t know why I’m like this, but I just can’t stop. I dream of him every night, he’s in my every thought, he’s all I ever-!”

Heechul slammed the magazine shut. “Hyukjae.”

“Y-Yes?”

Heechul massaged his temple, the beginning of a horrible migraine beginning in the back of his head. “If you want Donghae to like you, stop talking. You are much cuter with your mouth closed, and to be quite honest, you sound like a fool.”

Eunhyuk’s jaw went slack, his hands fell to his sides and he sighed.

“Now,” Heechul stood up and strode over to him, patting him on the shoulder. “Go tell him how you feel. Or just lay in bed and wallow in self-pity that you’re in love with your best friend. I don’t care what you do. Just leave me alone.”

With that, Eunhyuk stormed out of the room, the sound of complaints floating down the hall like an angry melody. Heechul plopped back down on the couch and scratched Heebum behind the ear, before picking up the magazine and reading the last wrinkle-prevention tip:

Be happy.

_______

₪ Even if it takes forever, I’ll wait for you.
Heechul | Hangeng
191 words

Ever since Hangeng left, Heechul started having fascinations with sunrises.

In a way, they were like Hangeng - beautiful, serene, calming. He was the total opposite of Heechul, who, lately, seemed to be nothing but a ball of spiraling chaos. Nothing seemed real to Heechul anymore, not without Hangeng around. All he had left were tiny reminders of Hangeng’s presence - gifts he had received, notes, old text messages he’d saved. And sunrises.

Every morning around five, Heechul would get out of bed and throw open his window, crawling onto the landing just outside his window - something he had recently been very thankful for. He would sit out there with a bowl of noodles, his iPod (always playing the same song - Blue Tomorrow) and his cell phone, and he would wait until the sun had fully risen before going inside.

Every morning at five thirty, he would send a new message to Hangeng’s number -

“I’ll wait for you. I don’t care how long it takes. I’ll wait for you to come back.”

The message never goes through, but that was okay with Heechul. Maybe, he would think. Maybe tomorrow, it will go through.

_______

₪ Schadenfreude
Heechul | Ryeowook
103 words

Often times, when Heechul is extremely bored, he will randomly pull out a dictionary and begin looking up words in different languages.

Wednesday’s word was schadenfreude:

scha•den•freu•de
-noun
satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else's misfortune.

It was just as he was reading the examples of the word being used in a sentence, when Ryeowook suddenly dropped a cast-iron pan on his foot, screaming in pain and hopping around like a one-legged rabbit. A small flare popped up in Heechul’s chest, and he couldn’t help but snicker at the other man’s misfortune.

Heechul liked this word, oh yes. He liked it a lot.

_______

₪ How Not to Avoid Speeding Tickets
Heechul | Kibum
268 words

“So...what exactly is the problem here?”

One thing that nobody can deny is that Heebum is Heechul’s pride and joy. Every morning, Heechul looks for the Russian blue’s cute furry form, and every night, the cat is clutched in his arms as he slowly drifts to sleep.

So any indication that Heebum is not well is reason enough for a meltdown.

As Heechul sat in bumper to bumper traffic, Kibum - unfortunately for him, being the only other person home at the time - held a sick Heebum in his lap, the cat mewing in pain and sitting perfectly still.

“Heebum is sick,” Heechul said, his gaze never leaving the road. “Heebum cannot get sick.”

“Uhh,” Kibum picked up the cat and stared at it, their eyes locking. “How can you even tell?”

Heebum then let out a soft (and rather pathetic sounding) mew, and Heechul sighed. “How can you not hear the pain in his voice?!”

Heechul suddenly swerved out of his lane into the lane of oncoming traffic, attempting to escape the back-up, but of course as soon as he did, the nose of his car slammed into the side of some woman’s sedan. To make matters worse, the car behind them just-so happened to be a cop. Heebum suddenly arched his back and made some ungodly noises, regurgitating a rather large, grey and sticky lump of fur onto Kibum’s lap. The cat then excitedly mewed in Kibum’s face, then hopped into the back seat, curled into a little ball, and promptly fell asleep.

Kibum turned his head over to Heechul and glared, simply muttering, “I hate you.”

_______

₪ Mirror Streaks
Heechul | Hangeng
203 words

Heechul’s showers always tended to be long and hot - he always enjoyed standing under the jet stream, feeling the near-scalding liquid slowly slide down his skin in a way that sent shivers up his spine.

It was almost like clockwork - he would shut off the water, step out of the shower, tie a towel around his waist and begin drying his hair, when there would be three knocks on the door. He never had to ask who it was, because it was always Hangeng - he wouldn’t even wait for Heechul to answer before coming in, locking the door and standing behind Heechul, embracing him and nuzzling into his neck. Hangeng would sometimes slide his hands down Heechul’s sides, or playfully bite at Heechul’s ear, and on many occasions Hangeng got so physical that Heechul would have to press his hands on the mirror to keep himself upright.

Now that Hangeng was gone, his daily shower lacked the excitement it once had, leaving him simply enjoying the memory of what occurred. Every now and then, the condensation on the mirror after his shower would reveal something that looked remarkably like hand prints - his hand prints - but he simply shrugged it off as his imagination.

₪ Wish You Were Here
Heechul | Zhou Mi

Dear Seasoning,

I hope Beijing is treating you well. Seoul is as miserable as ever.

Kyuhyun has been whining for you ever since you left, even though it was only two weeks ago. I wish you had taken him with you, he’s getting really annoying.

Have you heard from Hangeng lately? He isn’t answering my calls.

No, I will not stop trying to call him. It’s only been eight months.

I don’t even know why I’m writing you this letter. I guess maybe, in a way, I miss having you around too.

Come back soon.

Heechul xx

PS. You left your Lady Gaga CD here. No, you’re not getting it back.
