When I logged into LJ today, I got this ad at the top of the page. It makes me sad because it's just one more thing that makes us believe that we are not pretty/handsome/good looking/young looking enough as we are. It's basically a "portrait professional" image editing software that lets you edit your portrait to look like a model: eliminates skin blemishes, smooths wrinkles, adjusts your eye location if they're at all uneven or too close/far apart, etc. You know, Photoshop designed for portraits. It's so disappointing because all the models are beautiful in their own right, but when the homepage picture sequence switches the before and after pictures back and forth, they almost don't look pretty-- the blemishes are all emphasized. This society is just bombarding people with the fact that they aren't good enough, and that is contributing to our downfalls. For some people more than others, of course, but look at how many deeply unhappy/anorexic/bulemic/insecure/low self esteem-plagued teenagers there are out there. And that's past the normal amount of questioning and insecurity that most teenagers go through.

Anyway, so Brent and I cooked some finger foods (bourbon chicken skewers, rice croquettes, chips with homemade corn salsa) for an event last night, and it not only went over FANTASTICALLY, but we actually got people saying that they wanted us to cater other things for them. Yayyy!!! Brent is looking into getting us a business license, and then we are going to talk to my boss about "renting" out his kitchen to work in when we have orders too big to cook in our own kitchen. We are going to put together a menu and price it out and have business cards made and it's all really exciting! :D I know it's going to be a lot of work, and we're basically setting ourselves up for working a 40 hr work week and then catering on weekends, but honestly that's really the best way to get started, and both of us are in a good place to start that. So yeah. Now it's laundry time and then it'll be bedtime. Goodnight, my little chickadees! :P
