i dreamt i was lighter than air last night. i filled up my lungs, spread my arms, and moved gracefully above the water, the towns, and all the people with their busy lives. i coasted 20 feet in the air and saw children on jetskis below, and a robbery at a clothing store in a crusty parking lot. i moved from dock to dock, inviting my friends to join me, but everyone stayed planted to the ground. at one point, i exhaled just a little too hard, sinking into the water below. it wrapped itself all around me. i had to climb out and dry off just to float again.
