i will leave behind a wealth of music, for all to hear.
this summer:
-starting a jazz group with trusted musicians. the first few sessions have gone INCREDIBLY well. we really have something here. i am so excited.
-a relatives tour. from connecticut to south carolina. two weeks on the road with the band and isaac, and no stress. free food, housing, drinks, shows, and great people i've yet to meet. my first tour.
-the Relatives record. getting bigger by the minute.
-shows, orchestrations, movie scoring and a community of artists working together. we're all moving into a big house in brooklyn in a few months. a studio in the basement. space to breathe. art, artists, all around. the inklings of a movement.
tonight:
-recording with Chelsea Crowell, the granddaughter of legend Johnny Cash. Ian and I have been working our asses off at getting parts together for a 6 piece ensemble, 3 horns and 3 strings, along with our own individual parts. tonight at 9 we will all meet in St. George's church and record a live take of Chelsea's song, I Want My Seen Years Back. Chelsea's only in town for a day so we gotta get it right.
we have given so much of ourselves to this project. i cannot wait to get to that church, both to meet the blood of a music legend and to show her what we've got. the music is good.
wish us luck tonight.
big, big things!
