30 Day Song Meme: Day 14 (first bought); Day 15 (first video); Day 16 (movie); Day 17 (commercial)

Have I really missed three days? Wow, just got busy all of a sudden. Friends, family, all of the above. Nothing bad - just lots of stuff to go out and do.

Day 14: a song from the first CD I remember purchasing. This one is difficult, because I'm not sure when music was something that I was responsible for buying. A lot of 90s stuff... oh, boy bands, blonde pop starlettes... was stuff that I had but was gifted to me. I think this was one of the first CDs I bought though. If not... eh, it's from about that time.

There's an official video of this one, but embedding was disabled. :/ This was... man, 7th grade for me. I remember talking to friends about this song, haha. Not that either of us could understand the feelings behind the song personally at that point.

Day 15: the first music video I ever saw. This one I really quite honestly have no idea. I kind of remember "discovering" music videos... I saw one at some point and was absolutely AMAZED that that was a thing and I was blown away. But I have no idea what that video was, haha. And despite my amazement, and the fact that I would occasionally stay up late to watch videos, I can't even guess at what most of them were. So this is a lame choice, because no one likes Nickelback, lol. But this music video is the first one I remember watching with someone. I watched it with a high school friend who was very into music videos, and we totally dug the "plot" of this one. I still think it's a cool (if maybe unoriginal) idea for a video, and it was a new idea to me at the time. I can think of ones that I for sure saw before this (hey, boy bands, again.) But this at least is some kind of "first."

Day 16: A song I heard in a movie. This is one that's hard to choose, because there are so many. I often end up downloading music that I hear in movies. I'm torn between several - I loved the shit out of everything in Zombieland. Not even kidding. Music I'd heard before, music I hadn't. "Gold, Guns, and Girls" by Metric, for one. There's a song that isn't really in the movie Sin City... but a short clip of it plays on the DVD menu. Holy shit did I love that clip. Enough that I'd let the menu play just to listen to it, without even knowing what song it was or even why I liked it so much. The whole song is "Cells" by The Servant. But in the end I'll go with:

"Just Dropped In" by Kenny Rogers. Fucking great song, and a fantastic movie. If you're unfamiliar with the film, this is a weird clip to start with, haha. (It's a hallucination of a bowling-themed porn. Fear not.) By about 3:45 or so the song is over.

Day 17: A song from a commercial.

I got this stuck in my head quite a few times when it was playing. Honorable mention to "Flash" by Queen, because it's currently running in that tablet commercial and it also gets stuck in my head every time.
