Fact of the Day: marbles
A marble is a small, hard ball that is used in a variety of children's games and is named after the 18th-century practice of making the toy from marble chips. Marble games date from antiquity, and ancient games were played with sea-rounded pebbles, nuts, or fruit pits. The young Octavian (later, Roman emperor Augustus) played games with nut marbles, and engraved marbles have been dug up from the earthen mounds built by some early Native American tribes.

Today will surely be a trying day... Working 9am-2pm (thank God it's not longer) in a grocery store on the Saturday of a weekend that contains a holiday all about eating (that'd be Canadian Thanksgiving, for all my international friends). Then, after I finish work, I have to wade into the crowds, with Ray, and do my own shopping for tomorrow's dinner. All told, I think we'll be having 9 people at dinner (Dad and Jude, Ray and Me, Brother and Other, Chantal from Orleans, Nate from Hamilton, and yukonflower -- the only LJ user on my f-list whose name starts with a y... but that's neither here nor there). Though, the invitation goes out to all others in the GTA who have nowhere to go. Just drop me an email or give me a call, I'll set you up with the details.

After the shopping expedition, including Ray and I carrying all of the groceries home on the bus, we will begin to try to find some sort of state of clean and order in this house (hahahahahahaha), I have requested that Brother help out, but with Other here... who knows?
