You are my beautiful letdown

I went to the PFLAG meeting tonight and a lot of people (mostly parents, supporters, gays, lesbians, bisexual, etc.) were in the crowd. I wasn't expecting a lot of people there, but I was happy at the turn out. I met some awesome gay guys: Jacob, Kevin, and Pat. Jacob's really tall: 6'9" so it was amusing standing next to him ^__^ I heard some interesting coming out stories: some humorous, some awkward, and some sad. I'm not going to post them here, though because of confidentiality. But I am so glad I went and spoke about being a straight ally, even if I did make a complete ass of myself by banging my head against the table and exclaiming something along the lines of, "There are too many stupid people!" I met an awesome lesbian during a five minute break and she was telling me her coming out story. She thanked me for speaking up and being a supporter. Another man came up to me and thanked me saying (and these are his words), "There should be more people like you." I couldn't stop smiling. I don't know if that was egotistical to post, but it just made me happy knowing that I make a difference in peoples' lives, even if it's a small one, it's something=)
