Sorry, I couldn't resist. I read the headline "Britney Spears Names her Baby..." and then the name "Frito Lee" just jumped into my brain. Why? Oh if I could answer that question...
I worked a huge late group last night. About 800 people, and they had Pig 'N' Whistle and an open bar (more like 4 of them) and they could go to the mansion until 8:30 PM (!!!) and I had to work the Plaza (!!!) and close Sincerely (!!!!) Apparently the party was sponsored by the CVB and a tourism group and a new attraction in NYC called "Top of the Rock" (unofficial plug for something of which I have no idea what it is). Top of the Rock paid for the booze. Most of the partiers were well-washed before they even got on the shuttle to the mansion. Ha. At least they had an excuse for not knowing how to work the players... I didn't get a break long enough to eat anything before the group came in, so I was pretty hungry when the caterers started to set up a big-ass buffet table directly in front of where I was standing! I paced around all night, for hours and hours, turning away the folks with drinks and bottles (No Food or Drink Allowed in Museum), and watching in agony as they gorged themselves on bbq and potato salad and baked beans and ahh...
Around 8:30, just as the mansion took its last group of tipsies, one of the guards, Steve, came over to check on me. I had let about 3 people into the museum all night, and was pacing like a caged leopard. I jokingly asked him if he could bring me one of the bbq sandwiches. He looked around at the table, then walked up and got me one! I could NOT believe he actually did it. Then I stood behind the wall and ate some of it, but he came barging into the place and scared me. Then he said he would knock if a guest was coming, but like 3 minutes later, I was buried in the bbq and this woman came in...I had to swallow and throw the plate on the floor before she realised what was going on. Then Steve came in to warn me...
I finally got to go home at 10. On the way out, my supervisor tried to race me (why, I have no idea) to the interstate.
I also got some fan mail from a couple who took the VIP tour back in June. They had come all the way from Glasgow Scotland for their Ruby Anniversary (40th). I helped them with their new digital camera and gave them such a good tour that they got a photo with me. They sent me a letter and the photo thru Graceland. So nice! I will definitely write them back & send them some Memphis:-)
PS: Sorry for the title, I just cannot stop laughing...
