I think it's time for a little post.
This was kind of weird. I had asked God to present me with a “challenging task”, something that would test my faith, love, knowledge, and wisdom. Well, a few days later, I was confronted by to two Mormons at my door. He couldn’t have chose a better time. I was completely unprepared and I was struggling with some things in my head. (I was feeling quite the opposite when I asked him to give me this challenge).
Long story short, at first I just listened to the things they had to say, then I presented some questions that they were probably quite familiar with, I listened to their answers, then I gave them my point of view and slowly edged towards the inconsistencies of the book of Mormon and their interpretation. In the end I really don’t think I had any effect on them, for a one reason: they knew WAY MORE about the bible, which gave them even more reasons not to listen to what I had to say, since I presented my point of view with more common sense reasoning and facts then specific passages in the bible like they did. Most of their answers, in the end, were “Well, I guess we just rely on faith… [Concerning the book of Mormon].” No evidence is what it came down to, just a distorted understanding of God’s word. Too bad, they didn’t really care for what I was trying to say, I only wished they saw a slight glimpse of the true picture. I’m praying for them.
On Friday and Saturday I got my guitar and amp =)). Sooooo nice. Then Fred and Tim came and slept over, since their parents were gone. SNL and Wayne's sermon was good, i liked it a lot. i only wished i could have stayed longer and got some ice cream, just kidding. What i really wanted was to stay longer in the baptism class and learn the basic doctrines of the Bible and etc. from Wayne. Can't wait until Thanksgivng time, sisters are coming home, and I'm finally taking the plunge into the tub full of water. Overall, It was a very good weekend topped off with a 94% on my Chinese exam=).
Hopefully I can sort through some of the issues plaguing my mind real soon, and get back on track with things. 2 ½ yrs and still, I haven’t found the right solution…
