It looks like Kaya has been cast as Theresa (the female lead) for the movie adaptation of The Maze Runner. Rehearsals begin in mid-April and shooting starts on May 1, 2013 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"The Maze Runner" centers on Thomas, who wakes up in a rickety elevator with no memory. When the doors open, he finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade - a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls. Nobody knows why or how they got to the Glade, but every morning the stone doors open up to an awe-inspiring maze that is constantly shifting. The Gladers' only hope of escaping lie in the hands of elite Maze Runners who search for an exit each day. Every night the doors are closed tight, and everyone must get out, or fall prey to creatures who prowl the maze. Every 30 days a new boy is delivered in the elevator, but suddenly the first girl, Theresa, shows up. Together, Thomas and Teresa must embark on a quest to solve the riddle of the maze and reveal the chilling secret of who brought them there, and why.
The cast includes Thomas Brodie-Sangster (the little boy from Love Actually, Nowhere Boy,Game of Thrones 3 ) as Newt ,Will Poulter (Narnia,Wild Bill,Plastic with Sebastian de Souza ) as Gally and Aml Ameen (Kidulthood with Nicholas Hoult, Forest Whitaker’s younger self in Lee Daniel’s “The Butler“ out later this year) as Alby. The rest of the cast might include Connor Jessup ( Falling Skies) and Blake Cooper (Supernatural).
Fun fact : Will Poulter filmed the pilot for the Fades and had the role of Mac (who went to Daniel Kaluuya).Olly Alexander ( who filmed God help the girl and Skins Pure with Hannah Murray ) was Paul.
The story seems interesting but hopefully there's no love triangle like in every YA novel these days. It's a smart move from Kaya because if it's successful (and it might be since she appears in a lot of fancast and is definitely a fan favorite) this could help her break the Hollywood market.
