Skins Trailers Recaps

Aug 03, 2011 02:34

The first thing I thought I’d recap was the trailers of the shows I was going to recap. Taking a closer look at them and trying to see what we can tell from just the trailers now that we’ve seen the show.

Warning - Spoilers for all seasons of Skins in this post.

I love the use of Standing in the way of control it’s just wonderfully Skins to me now.

We get to see that Tony cheats on Michelle in the Trailer, that’s something that was dealt with all throughout season one.

Something I find interesting for some reason is that Cassie is writing Cassandra instead of Cassie on the mirror.

We know Sid is a virgin because of it being written on his forehead. The thing I liked most about this trailer? The way the music slows down and when it bursts back up again everything starts going wrong at this party.

The Trailer for Season two definitely has  a darker feel to it. Interestingly enough the first person we see is Effy. We see Chris huddled against the wall, the wall cracks behind him, I do have to wonder if that symbolises his death in anyway? The grim reaper is often shown all in black with his hood up.

We see someone watching Maxxie which obviously refers to Sketch as does what we see of Anwar, he’s ignoring everything around him for lust. Michelle is lying up at the bed looking at the water dripping through the ceiling I think directly above her is the bathroom which means Tony is too. And much like the last trailer the music builds and builds until finally…

We see Tony. He’s under the water as if he’s drowning and if that isn’t symbolism for him trying to find air, to be the person he once was after his accident. I don’t know what is.

I adore that we see JJ doing a card trick; his Magic is one of the most defining characteristics about his character.  Cook does seem to be the ringleader in this trailer he’s the first one that walks in to the pub, leading the way for the others and he’s the one who lights the flare. I can’t help but feel like Effy may be holding on to the fire extinguisher but she’s only adding to the fire. Freddie kind of the responsible on as he’s the first to try and get everyone out of there. I noticed Effy is the first one to jump but Freddie is the last, could that possibly symbolise him being left behind? Symbolising his death maybe?

I know most people aren’t fond of the Season Four trailer but you actually see things in it that happen in the episodes, although they are hard to see because of the colours.

We see Thomas cheating, Cook walking away like his Credit at the end of the Season, Freddie and Effy in the field, Naomi and Emily kissing, Cook and Thomas fighting, Cook smashing the car window from the scene his episode, Cook and Freddie talking about Freddie having had a blowjob from Cook’s mom and Emily and Katie hugging at the end of Katie’s episode.
