It's technically got nothing to do with either films except for the fact that Adam Deacon and Femi are involved, and they played Jay & Moony in the Kid/Adult films. Basically when Noel Clarke (who wrote both, and directed Adult) took a break from twitter, Adam and Femi started joking on there that they wanted to do more -hood, stuff, like a comedy and then started writing it. It all picked up really quickly & by the time Noel came back from his hiatus things were in motion for the film. He was (understandably, in my opinion) raging about it & every since there's been passive aggressive tweets on both sides re: loyalty and other such ridiculousness. (I followed them all at the time which is why I know so much but it got so childish that I don't follow any of them any more).

So tldr; it's been written, directed and starred in by Adam and Femi, loosely taking liberties from both prior -hood films but technically has absolutely nothing to do with them. They could've given it another name and saved a whole lot of hassle tbh.

The first two were marketed as gritty, urban films (Along the lines of Shank, which was directed by Mo Ali) with Noel Clarke at the helm but this one...man.
