Once upon a time, there was a boy named James "Jimmy" Cook. At his 17th birthday party, he ate a whole cake with his bare hands. Another time, he stood for student government. Another time, he sold drugs to someone who sold drugs to a dead girl. He said he did all of those things because he didn't care about you or anyone else

Except Naomi's "maybe I only like guys apart from you" was obviously just part of her being scared and refusing to accept her sexuality, trying to rationalize it and finding any excuse not to admit she was actually gay/bisexual. There's never been any actual evidence of her being attracted to guys at all (they even had her mum tell her it was nice to see her with a guy "for a change" lol). She enjoys having sex with Emily, therefore she likes girls ;)

If they wanted to reinforce her supposed bisexuality or sexual confusion, they'd have her cheat with a guy. She cheated with a girl, therefore the woman really is attracted to the ladies, as opposed to being a straight girl in love with Emily.

And to be perfectly honest, I doubt that is the reason why Emily thought they were special - they simply were. In fact, I remember quite vividly Emily disliking Naomi's "Maybe I only like boys except for you" attitude and sarcastically accusing her of being "in touch with herself" before leaving the room in ep 9.
Besides, in her own blog on E4 the character of Naomi is described of prefering girls over boys - which is further reinforced in the novel. There is a slight chance she could be bisexual - though there was never any indication she was ever involved with one other than erectile dysfuntion guy - but she sure as hell isn't straight.
