The first time Freddie sees her…he completely forgets about Effy. It’s almost shocking how quickly and instantly she’s wiped from his mind. He swallows thickly, and he can’t seem to stop staring, no matter how rude it might be. He wants her to notice him. And eventually, she does feel his eyes on her. She half smiles, half frowns, and tilts her head…an almost feline sort of curiosity; and his heart thumps as she walks closer.
“Hi.”
“Um…hi.”
“You were staring.”
“Well…it’s like. You know. You’re…beautiful.”
She grins widely, and holds her hand out for him to shake. “I’m Michelle.”
