They don't seem to be particularly interesting books (classic novels for school and other boring, basic books, as expected from the Mayfield library), but he's stumbling over to the checkout counter with them none the less

I guess it wouldn't matter as much as I'm making it seem. Besides, there are so many different types of people here that I don't feel as awkward as I did back home.

So far the drones haven't run anybody outta town for bein' strange lookin', so you should be safe. Er, maybe not safe. You get what I mean.

There sure are. And I thought the people I knew back home were strange.

It's a long story. I wasn't born looking this way, but a lot of things happened and now I have white hair and a notable scar.

Doesn't sound that bad. I know plenty a' guys with scars all over.

[ Though if he saw Shion's rather unique scar he might not be so certain. ]
