Wickedly entertaining! This film screams entertainment from the open
credits. Take five main characters, give them special abilities, and
try to make an enjoyable film without focusing on any one character.
Not an easy task, but director Tim Story seemed to nail it. Each
characters origin is explained and their abilities unfold right before
their eyes as instinct, much like Peter Parker in SPIDER-MAN. Someone
definitely did their homework for the characters to develop in such a
way that you understand their conflicts both internal and with each
other, as well as adapt to their new found abilities. The relationships
between Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing, and Human Torch
were right on with the comic. And each actor portrayed them flawlessly.
With frequent one liners and quick snaps, you'll actually enjoy the
humorous moments in the film. The special effects are fantastic as the
Human Torch literally appears to be engulfed in flames, but The Thing's
suit seems to be a little hard to believe. I realize the film makers
were going for believable and cheap, but the HULK was believable and he
was CG! The Thing would have been much more enjoyable to watch if he
had been completely CG. Even still, the great entertainment value and
characters get this one a 4 out of 5... FLAME ON!!!
