Rikki And Lily
Last night I was up too late and managed to catch the first half of Cry-Baby (before my mother insisted upon watching something else AND my boyfriend called). Now a lot of people aren't even aware of Cry-Baby, which is one of Johnny Depp's earlier movies, but I saw it for the first time when I was about 10. I recorded it from the USA Network and watched it over 40 times. It seems that once you memorize the dialogue to a movie, you never forget haha. Released in 1990, Cry-Baby is an over the top, musical throwback to the fifties-early sixties with insanely amazing fashion, spectacular vintage cars, and the obvious gang war. The "Drapes" are the rebels, such as Wade (Cry-Baby) Walker, and the "Squares" are the preps lead by Baldwin. In a nutshell, "Square" Allison Vernon Williams falls in love with bad boy Cry-Baby, while her family and friends try their best to keep them apart. The gang leaders fight for her love by way of singing competition and chicken car race. In one word, this film is PERFECTION :) + I adore Ricki Lake pre-weight loss as Cry-Baby's fiesty knocked up sister, and Traci Lords as Wanda, the suburban girl gone bad.
In other news, my darling Barry and I are planning on getting tickets to see Miss Lily Allen on her Australian Tour. I must say I'm really excited about it. It'll be the third arena concert I see in my life and her new album is quite fun.
