I may be a little late to the game, but I'm still mourning the passing of summer. As the weather goes through some schizophrenic swings trying to find its new personality, I'm busy preparing myself - and my beauty routine - for chillier days ahead. Here are some tips to stop living in the (sunny) past and ease into winter with glowingly beautiful ( Read more... )

Thanks for the reminder about the exfoliators. I have some, but always forget to use them.

I'm already feeling the dry facial skin & tightness due to climate/seasonal changes, and have had to step up my moisturizers.

You're welcome! I've been feeling the same way. What kind of moisturizers are you using?

Right now I'm broke and I told myself I couldn't buy more til I used up what I already had lying around, so currently using...Clinique DDML every day, Clinique Youth Surge SPF 15 (I like this one, and it will be great for extreme winter...it's still kind of heavy for the face right now, so I just use it on my neck). Also Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift and Intensive Lift (mostly used at night, these are also heavy), and some Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion, which I haven't tried yet, but looks awesome. Everything except the Clinique items were gifts with purchase or Sephora bonus items.

Oh, and Estee Lauder Intensive Lifting Eye Cream... every day and night without fail. That and the Clinique DDML are probably my two "can't live without" items; the rest usually vary depending on who's having a gift-with-purchase special:)

That sounds like a great (and thorough) regimen! I tend to get lazy with my anti-aging routine, but I really need to be more consistent with night cream and under-eye serum in particular. I started noticing lines around my eyes about 5 years ago, and I have some great products from the Osmotics line - Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Firming Eye Repair and Osmotics Eye Surgery Undereye Rejuvenator. For my skin I use my Clarisonic Mia religiously, with Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk because it's so gentle.

I also really like Peter Thomas Roth. Have you tried their Radiance Oxygenating Masque? I have the AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel and the spot treatment, and both work really well (and quickly).

What's your skin type?

I've used tons of eye creams over the years. I tend to be super-sensitive in the eye area, even if the cream isn't even touching anywhere near my actual eye, so I have to be careful. A couple years ago Lancome came out with a new formulation on one of their eye creams, and I had to stop using it. So sad! Then I made the switch to Estee Lauder, and have been happy with them ever since. I tested some Clarins eye creams several months ago and that seemed to be OK for me, too, so I may have a back-up if I get tired of Estee Lauder. The Clinique eye creams don't bother me, but they don't do a whole lot to help my lines, either.

I also use (and like!) the Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel on my face. I haven't tried the Radiance Masque or any other of their products yet.

My skin type is normal/combination, with a shift toward more normal/dry in the winters.

That's great that you've found some eye creams that work - my eye area can be super-sensitive too sometimes. I tend toward oily/combination, but I have to be careful to keep my skin hydrated or else it'll overcompensate with oil. Hopefully this winter we'll both stay moisturized. :)
