I've found this somewhat interesting: Maybe it's just what I watch, but I've noticed more women-on-men rape in media. The examples I have are:
1. Season 4 of True Blood. Jason Stackhouse is held captive, tortured, and then raped by several women (they were hoping to be impregnated by him). It wasn't entirely treated as a joking matter. He was clearly upset by the whole thing, though he did comment later about it being a form of punishment from god for fucking too many hot women. We also learned (I believe in season 5) that Jason had been sexually abused by a female teacher as his first sexual experience. While initially he thought it was okay, he later realized what a horrible effect it had on his life.
2. This season of Californication, the most recent episode. Hank Moody is in a swanky rehab facility and a junkie woman takes his hand and forces it down the front of her pants during a group meeting. It's treated as a joke and Hank doesn't seem the least bit bothered by it. Later on, he wakes up in the middle of the night to her riding him like a pony. He repeatedly asks her to stop and get off him. She calls him a "faggot" after he loses his erection and she warns him not to tell anyone. He tells her he won't tell anyone, but it's all a joke because she is a worn out, strung out meth head and clearly not a lay he would ever want to admit to.
In a sick way, it's refreshing to see men being the victims of rape for a change. There are many, many movies and TV episodes out there featuring women being raped by men or it's implied. However, why would this be treated as a joke? Is it because the statistics of women raping men is far, far, far less than men raping women? Do people see it as a big joke that a man could be domineered and sexually assaulted by a woman, as though it emasculates him or as though it's a far-fetched, unbelievable idea? Or perhaps some people see it as kind of sexy. Admittedly, I saw a news story quite sometime ago of a woman tying up a would-be robber, forcing Viagra into him, and raping him repeatedly and I did find it funny. But I found the whole circumstances funny, that he was trying to commit a crime against her and ended up being the victim of a crime (is that an example of irony?). What she did was definitely not okay though.
Anyway, I don't have an answer to those questions. They are just my guesses and speculation. I'm wondering if anyone else has thoughts on the subject.
