So, it's a federal election (yet afuckin'gain) here in Canada and my Facebook news feed keeps popping up with people posting anti-Harper stuff. While it's nice to see people interested in politics, seriously, don't be a bitching muck-raker. Why not post the good things about your party and the reasons one should vote for them? Is it because to do so is more difficult than just saying "I hate Stephen Harper"? I haven't been shy about the fact that I won't be voting Liberal and I think the leader of the party (Michael Ignatieff) is not a good candidate. The fact he hadn't been living in Canada for over 30 years and came back strictly to run the Liberal party makes him look like a foolish pawn. Canadian politics obviously are not important to me nor are the issues Canadians face. I was very, very pleasantly surprised to see that the leader of the NDP (Jack Layton) pointed this out about the Liberal leader, "You know, most Canadians, if they don't show up for work they don't get a promotion." (re: fact that Ignatieff has the worst attendance record at the House of Commons out of any MP) I hope the Liberals lose so that tool goes back to Harvard and hopefully never makes a run in Canadian politics again.
A couple weeks ago, I ran into the candidate for the
Green Party in my riding. She was collecting signatures so she'd be on the ballot. I signed it because I do think they should be given a chance (if the fucking Bloc Quebecois get a chance then a party running across the whole country and not just one province should have a chance). I told her who I intended to vote for and instead of putting that down, she asked me what the issues were that I was voting on (lower taxes, tougher crime punishment). She then told me about the Green Party's platform on those subjects, not once being disrespectful to any other candidate. In fact, talking to her inspired me to check out the Green Party and I really agree with a lot of their points. I would feel like I'm throwing a vote in an election that's too close to call though. If that wasn't the case, yeah, I'd vote for them (and, of course, if they're on the ballot in my riding). Andrew got Conservative signs to put in our yard and I told him we should get a Green Party one, too. He was like, "The neighbours will think we're crazy!" *lol* We started talking about the Greens and I was surprised that he agreed with a lot of their platform. As he said, "Yeah, it sounds like a fucking utopia so of course I would vote for that. But it's (them winning and how to apply their platform) not going to happen." Maybe one day.
I'm definitely going to place an order with
Grassroots Environmental Products hopefully within the next few weeks. A Canadian site with reasonably priced natural products? Yes, please!
Lady GaGa's new song, Judas, is growing on me...it's probably just the "Judas, Juda-as, Judas, Juda-as, Judas, Juda-as, Judas, Gaga!" that does it for me, hahahaha.
