Run For Your Lives...

It's been nearly a week of being allergen-free. BMs are good and I'm happy to see stubborn eczema patches are disappearing, particularly these patches on my left arm that would not go away for anything. I haven't been adding lotions, etc to the area, but the dryness is going away and the discolouration is slowly dissipating so that makes me very happy (and I doubt very much that that's a placebo effect). I'm carefully reading ingredients and making changes. For example, the lactose-free margarine we have has soy in it (of course, because everyfuckingthing has soy in it) so I drizzle olive oil on toast if I want toast with meals like chili or stew. It's not super duper tasty, but it does the trick. As for the toast, I could start making my own bread, but in the meantime Superstore has a lovely sprouted whole wheat bread that has pumpkin and oats so I'll shell out the $5 for that delicious, soft bread.

I looked at soy-free margarine at Vita Health and while it would be fine, it has pea protein in it. Peas were on the allergen list. This is one of the things that I'm going to ignore from time to time for this reason: Daiya cheese has pea protein in it. If I want some effing mac & cheese or nachos, I'm going to have it - pea protein be damned.

I'm incorporating more hemp products into my diet now. I got hemp butter which is slowly growing on me. It's not peanut butter, that's for darn sure. But toast with hemp butter and jam is fairly alright. I also love, love, LOVE chocolate Hemp Bliss milk. Mmmm! It's right up there with Silk chocolate soy milk. Once we're done with the carton(s) of rice milk, I'll get natural Hemp Bliss milk.

Oh, and I love chocolate coconut ice cream. Mmmm.

Anyway, I had an appointment with a family doctor on Friday as I've been searching for a new one a bit closer to home. This was the first time I've met with a female doctor (other than my naturopath). She seems nice enough and, although she was wearing a giant crucifix, she wasn't judgmental on the "no kids" thing (unlike the last misogynistic pig doctor I met in the summer) and simply said as long as I'm happy and I feel good, then good for me. She was surprised that I haven't had a full physical in 4 years (though I do get pap tests annually) so she insisted that I come back to see her in May for a full physical and get blood work done 2 weeks prior for us to discuss. So, I guess we'll see how that goes. So far, I'm liking her which is good, but not that I'll see her all that often anyway. *knock on wood*

I went to my first hot yoga class in almost 5 years on Friday. I went back to the hottest corner of the room like I used to always do. The good thing about going to the afternoon class (I had booked Friday off work) was that there were only 5 people total doing the class. I'm happy to say that I did every pose and completed the whole class. :) Not going in so long, I thought I would have to take a couple of time outs, but I didn't. I even did a pose (hare) that I used to avoid like the plague because I would end up having migraines. The instructor showed me how to do it properly and, voila, the headache I was developing during the class from all the back neck bends went away. Yay! I don't think I'm going to cancel my gym membership and get a full year membership for hot yoga. I think I'll just go once in awhile when I'm in the mood to change up my routine.

I sewed up a couple of t-shirts to tote bags on Friday morning. I made a small one for produce and a big one from a Black & Blue Ball t-shirt. I'll eventually make some more, especially small ones for produce. I'm loving sewing though I wish I would instantly be really good at it. I need to consider taking classes so I can do more complex projects.

Oh, I had a fucking ton of sleep on Friday/Saturday. We're talking...13 - 14 hours total. :-S Friday evening, I had about a 3.5 hour nap (I knew I'd need one after hot yoga). Got up for a few hours. Went back to sleep for about another 4+ hours. Got up for a couple of hours. Then slept 'til just shy of 2 pm on Saturday! Wow! I didn't know I needed so much sleep, hahaha. Needless to say, I wasn't able to nap during the day yesterday or able to fall asleep easily at night so I went to sleep around 3 am. I'm pretty sure I'm PMSing so that would explain all this crazy sleep and then lack thereof.
