Thundershirt...

As you may or may not recall, I had expressed an interesting in getting a Thundershirt for Mia. After watching some videos and reading reviews online, I decided to get one for Mia and Romeo to help with their excessive barking whenever the alarm beeps indicating someone is coming to the house from the garage (so me or Andrew coming home). They bark their faces off, Mia snarls and bites Romeo, then chases Poe. It's a fucking gong show. This, of course, is hugely problematic when I'm sleeping on a Thursday night and Andrew comes home after 2:00 a.m. from a wrestling show.

The Thundershirts arrived a couple of weeks ago and we've been working with the dogs making them wear the shirts when we know either of us will be coming home shortly or if we know someone is coming over. The shirts do nothing to curb their behaviour. Absolutely. Nothing. The dogs just act uncomfortable while wearing the shirts, but as soon as they hear the alarm beep, they're off running. Sometimes, they (particularly Mia) would listen to us more while wearing the shirts, but then that pretty much wore off. Thundershirts claim dogs feel more relaxed while wearing the shirts. Nothing could be further from the truth for our dogs, especially Romeo. Andrew pointed out that Romeo looked anxious while wearing it (and, yes, he was fitted properly). At $45 a pop, I want the shirts to work all the time or at least greatly reduce the craziness. They don't, so the shirts are going back.

I'm very, very disappointed to say the least.
