Question for you guys:

Ever notice how the people on this ship tend to be people that you couldn't stand back home? Hell, even a bitter enemy of yours?

It makes me wonder how deliberate Redd's choice is in plucking these people from our worlds. If it's a deliberate way to make the passengers' stay that much more hellish.

[He takes a deep sigh ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say the pattern is just enemies.

But the relationships seem to be slated for maximum pain.

[Ed nods. He's heard that same phrasing before.]

I remember a person telling me the same thing, and that sometimes your enemies were preferable to the people Redd puts on here instead.

Mm... yes. I mean, I wouldn't say I necessarily prefer my enemies, but they're in greater numbers than those... dear to me anyway, so it makes no sense that...

[She sighs.]

And for lack of anything better to do, I find myself mulling over what possible purpose this should all serve.

Because surely it serves a purpose. I can't imagine anything else. It's just too mind boggling to think all so random... or even for, well, say, the Captain's amusement.

But the circular thinking involved in any line of reasoning I can latch onto could quite possibly drive one mad.

The more time I spend on here, the less I think that Redd leaves anything up to chance, or that anything is "random". He's just watching his little ant farm, waiting to see what we do to one another.

Hmm. Well, considering the type of power I've seen from him in my short time here--and if he, indeed, is responsible for drawing people here--it would make sense he has some sort of... plan.

But as I said, I simply must believe it is for more than mere observation purposes. I mean, humans tend to have some type of motivations behind actions. So, then, is it entertainment? Why would a being that powerful have to go to such lengths for amusement?

No, no, there has to be something deeper here. Even if he has no definite conclusion in mind... he is forming one as he studies our behavior, I guarantee it.
