Just a quick update
Medical School: Year 3
Clinical Rotations: Day 8
OB/GYN: Day 5
Really tired and going to head off to bed.
Matt set the alarm last night but forgot to 'set' it. I luckily woke up by myself at about 6:15 and ran around like crazy and managed to make it to the hospital on time. Today was kind of boring because it was lectures from like 7am til 1pm ugh. After that we decided to run errands before showing our face in Labor & Delivery. We finally went to our clinical coordinator and found out she had our patient log books the whole time!! Nice of her to tell us that. Also I FINALLY got my meal tickets! Yay lunch!! Then we went to go find our preceptor and it turned out she was in Labor & Delivery! Whoops :) Finally we went to go get lunch because we hadnt checked in yet so we were as of then still not busy.
Around 2 oclock finally got back into Labor & Delivery. Met with our preceptor and FINALLY got all of our questions answered or at least posed. Volunteered to scrub in with my preceptor for a C-section as I wanted to do something today. As it turned out she was an elective C-section for macrosomia, the Estimated Fetal Weight was something over 10lbs. Because it was elective it got bumped by a bunch of emergency procedures, I think she'd been here since 12am last night! I was so determined to do something (the only other thing I did was try to draw blood on a patient that had already left this morning O.o) that I stuck around and scrubbed in around 5:15 which is when everyone else went home. I didnt get out till 7pm, didnt eat till 8pm and well yeah now I'm tired.
Hopefully tomorrow I will actually start keeping my patient log :)
Oh, also, a few days ago, we bought bulk sun flower seeds, and then I accidentally knocked the container off the bed and like 6 cups of sunflower seeds fell onto the floor. So we got a garbage bag and put all the seeds in there and saved the rest. Well today as Matt went upstairs to come get me at 7, he noticed that ALL OVER the floor Jacob had left him "presents" he called them. Apparently Jacob had gotten into the garbage bag while Matt was watching tv or playing a computer game and ate ALL 6 cups of sunflower seeds which then left him a few hours later completely unaltered. So that was fun cleaning up piles of sunflower seed poop ;) I bet you all REALLY wanted to hear about that hehe
