my thoughts on love

Jan 07, 2007 20:45

a friend requested I post this rant: I had a spontaneous, impassioned verbal rant the other day--I'll try to capture the gist as best I can:

True love is like a sandwich.
There's people everywhere, an deli's everywhere, and everywhere, people are going in to delis saying things like: "I am looking for a tuna sandwich", and the guy behind the counter says "ok, here ya go".
"that's a tuna sandwich?"
"uh-huh"
"but what is it really?
"A tuna sandwich...with tuna fish"
What's it made of?"
"tuna, mayo, bread...some celery"
"but what makes it a tuna sandwich? Could this really be a tuna sandwich? Is that even possible? There's so many tuna in the sea, but I'm here in this deli! What is this really--I guess it's food, maybe it's a sandwich, maybe there's even tuna inside, but that doesn't make it a tuna sandwich!"
"there's also mayo. That'll be $4.67"
"What is it really? What is it really??!?!@?! WHAT is it REALLY MADE OF?? whatisitreallywhatisitreally??WhaTISitREaLlLy????"

Damn.

...well, I forget what I said after that...I guess my mouth was still moving but I was in my happy place. I guess the moral of the story is that tuna is all around us, and the ingredients are clearly printed on the back, but you don't need to look at them because you already know it's a can of tuna. Gah!
