Here I Am

Sorry for extended absense. Mostly laziness-induced, since I now always have access to a computer thanks to my LAPTOP (!!!!), but I will blame it on jetsetting. Actually, whenever I'm not trying to be constructive, assume that I am jetsetting. However, I'm going to have my feet firmly planted here in Thailand for the next month since the Department of State finally gave me a full-time paying job on the embassy compound. I'd tell you what the job entails, but I'd have to kill you. -_- Seriously. Heh, actually I'm just creating the embassy newsletter, which is not even classified. "Sensitive but unclassifed" is the official label, I believe. There, now you know.

So, Mario is in Japan, Rachel is in Israel, Eleo is in Egypt, Elaine is in Montreal, Wilson is in New Zealand, Anna is somewhere between the French nunnery she's been living in for the past month and saving up enough to get to Ireland, and Soo is in Singapore. When attending an international school, it seems like all of your best friends immediately get up and fly to a new continent the moment they graduate. So I'm pretty lonely now that I've landed for a while. Mind you, Williams is in almost exactly a month from now (!!!!) so I won't have long to wait before I'm on a plane again. Naturally all the Aussies are still in Oz...a more homebody-bound culture I have never encountered. At least, I assume so. Fill me in, Ashie, Shivvy, Mari...you're all still in Canberra? I know Chrissy and Clairey are. But of course Sheree is off traversing Europe, and so is Anna, like I said.

So, I'm trying to remember the point of this...hmm. Mostly just to let everyone know I am alive and still happy and travelling. And apologetic to those at MassD. Yes, I recognise the irony of my poking all of you relentlessly to post and then not myself posting. I'll get right on it.

What else? Ah yes, Sun tagged me.

Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most, and then pick ten people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.

1. The feel of coldness just before you take a sip of icewater after taking a long walk through the sun.

2. When a bird tries to figure out how to preen your hair :)

3. Waking up in the morning in an unfamiliar bed and slowly realizing you're in a new country where you flew in too late last night to have fully appreciated it at the time.

4. Comfort food. i.e. Plain pasta with parmesan, dried apricots, triscuits, nachos, ice cream, maccaroni, salmon, corn on the cob, American rice (ooooh, I haven't had that in for-ev-er...), chocolate, cookies and milk, and my favorite, bananas with peanut butter.

5. Reading a book you just can't put down.

6. Plotting (read: evilly)

7. Hampster-piling with a group of really good friends.

8. Limoncello, tequila and tiramisu at an Italian restaurant on your birthday (what, too specific?)

9. Days when the news features stories about overweight kids or rescue workers who saved manatees (instead of about people being blown up), aka 'slow news days'.

10. Going to somewhere just dripping with natural beauty and being reminded that the world is really an incredible place.

I think Sun tagged some of the people I would have, like Mystix, Jodie and Silv, but I also tag Ashie, Shivvy, Mari, Hiko, Watergem, Aura and GP.
