You know, normally I get all gushy when they finally have the relationship!talk because that's an inherent part of the hurt/comfort, the whole 'we recognise how much we really care' conversation. In this case, I loved that it was entirely without words, and you wrote this little snippet of time that wasn't a beginning, end or even middle. It was just kinda like 'this is the time that Cam went to be with John after Dave got shot.' I'm probably not expressing myself very well, but I think that's seriously cool. It's kinda how real relationships go and I liked that effect immensely.

I was trying for something that would reflect how John Cam would do things, and as much as I love that moment of, oh, recognition of affection?, I can't see John being very good at having that kind of conversation. Especially in the context of a romantic relationship. So I thought it had to be mostly non-verbal. I'm glad it came across as reflective of how a real relationship works.

Thanks, sweetie! I think Cam could have a conversation about this kind of thing--he's pretty emotionally aware--but John? Not so much. :D

With all the shit the galaxy throws at them on a daily basis, it's no wonder they forget that earth can be a pretty dangerous place too. I'm glad Cam managed to come up with a way to be there for him.

I do wonder how it would go--would they mentally tag Earth as safe, or would they start seeing danger everywhere? Probably depends on the person.

I was originally going to write this as Cam being deeply frustrated at not knowing how to comfort John, and then it didn't end up going that way, so instead I'll say that it's a good thing Cam's good at figuring people out, because I'm not sure John would be inclined to ask for help.
