Ooooh. *hugs fic to chest* This is lovely, lovely, lovely. So sweet and honest and believable. I love John panicking when he realises Cam's in love with him, and I love Cam taking that leap of faith and asking John for more. Go Rodney for being all supportive! And I loved John talking to Sam -- my favourite dynamic from SGA Season 4.

Yay, terrific story!

Thank you! It seems like there's a lot of agreement that John has issues when it comes to relationships, so I thought it would be fun to explore that dynamic. And I love John's friendship with Sam as well--definitely one of the best parts of Season 4.

I really liked them expanding their relationship, and that Rodney tried to look out for John. (I stumbled over the measles for Madison though, because I think they aren't endemic in North America anymore and since 2002 the only cases have been from people importing them from other regions, so it's an unlikely disease for her to get in Canada, even if she wasn't vaccinated?)

I see your point about the measles. It's definitely true that measles is fairly rare now in Canada. However, the rates have been going up in other places (e.g., the UK) thanks in part to anti-vaccine propaganda, and since there have been outbreaks in Canada (Montreal in 2007, for example) and since it's not unreasonable to think that Vancouver receives international visitors, I think it could be argued to be plausible. On the other hand, if it's throwing people out, maybe I should just change it to a generic "sick."

Thanks for your feedback!

She could have scarlet fever. That is potentially dangerous without treatment with antibiotics, very infectious, you can carry it and infect others without showing symptoms (I missed my first day of school because I was quarantined for it and I wasn't even sick which sucked for a six year old), and you can get it more than once and there is no vaccine and it is typical for children, so it would definitely fit without being vague like "sick".

I also stumbled over the measles thing, because despite having married the infamous English major Jeannie doesn't strike me as an anti-vaccination kind of parent, I mean, science is overwhelmingly on the pro-vaccination side.

I agree Jeannie wouldn't be anti-vaccine, but vaccines don't always take. That's why herd immunity is so important! (I have personal experience with this--my parents were careful to make sure I got every vaccine on time, but I still managed to develop pertussis, which they still rate as one of their worst experiences ever in raising children.)

But that's all pretty complicated for one line in a story. :)

Scarlet fever is a possibility (I had that one too!). Thanks for the suggestion.

I really enjoyed this and the way you had the guys approach everything, and god I would love to see Rodney give Cam "the relationship talk". *giggles at the image*

Thanks!

I would love to see Rodney give Cam "the relationship talk"

Rodney seems like the protective sort when it comes to his friends. I almost feel a little sorry for Cam...

Yes, he does. Which one of the things I think is adorable about him. And if you ever feel the urge to write that scene you know you won't get any complaints out of folks. ;)

Thank you! Glad you liked it.

I also enjoyed the Sam & John talk and I would have loved to hear her opinion on the situation.

I almost had Cam come out to her, but couldn't quite fit it in. Maybe in another story, because I'd love to hear her opinion too.
