Week August 8-14: Easy/Medium

Aug 15, 2005 14:04

Feeling sore after this week as I should. I ended up getting enough volume and had the intesity I wanted on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Body is in good shape, but feeling a little pain in my arch, WTF?

Total - 9:15
Bike - 4:25
Ski - 4:05
Swim - 0:15
Run - 0:30

Sunday August 14: Green Lake Triathlon 1/4 mi, 14 mi, 4 mi
Can't say I felt flower-fresh coming into this race, but this was mos def my best tri result yet. Its a little hard to tell with these times tho as they didnt differentiate T1 and T2 which I think sandbagged my bike time. Overall I felt fast, even tho once I left the water my legs started to ache.

It looks like my running might have slightly improved, which is surprising, as is my swimming and biking. There was also some very steep competition in my 20-24 age group as I finished 8th/144 overall (best place in a tri to date) and 4th in the age group.

I want to come back next year and take top 5. I think this very possible if I train for swimming, practice transitions and start running again. The swim is really killing me as I only got passed twice in the bike and never in the run.

Place Div No. Name Age S Swim Time yds Bike Time mph Run Time Pace Overall
8/144 4/23 8 Matt Allyn 21 M 65 7:13 1:39 14 38:40 21.7 8 25:11 6:18 1:11:03

Biked a 20 min cool down, had a free beer (Mich Ultra, almost as bad as Colt 45) and headed back to Ben's cabin. Congratulated myself with a Mackeson Triple Stout. A marvelously strong stout with a smooth, sweet chocolatey finish. Then finished the day off with some wake boarding and water skiing in case I wasnt tired enough.

Saturday August 13: Tune-up
Spent the day playing with my bike shoe cleats and aerobars. Legs are sore, probably from the skiing. Biked for 45 min.

Friday August 12: easy
Had a positive PT with Claudia in the morning. My body is starting to re-learn how to run. In the evening I went out for an easy 1:30 bike around Plymouth.

Thursday August 11: Hill attacks
Skated over to the long hill at French Park and did 8 hill repeats in a little under 2:30 with about 1:1 rest. Totaled 1:40, which is always a nice way to start your Thursday. Felt tired and sore, but nothing bad. Meant to go out for a short PM run, but didnt have time.
