Were you ever involved in music in school K-12? yeah all through-- still going

Why or why not? generael music was required k-6 i think- joined band in fourth grade, chorus in fifth grade, marching band in seventh grade, and jazz band in eighth grade

Did you quit the music program while you were still in school? i tried to in fifth grade cuz band met at recess time but my teacher wouldnt let me, good thing too i guess... even though it was cuz there were only two trombone players counting me and he didnt wanna lose one, but hey... its all good

If so, why? see above

What is your opinion on the importance of music in our schools? its wicked important, cuz without it i id never get a job! but seriosuly, its important because weve all learned that children learn differently, and the younger the child sometimes involving music is a good way to get them interested and involvoed, and its been proven that kids who are involved in music tend to do better in other things, like learning different languages and concepts and stuff

(For those who were involved in music) Do you feel that your years in the music programs were important to you? Yes I do

Why or why not? Music is an outlet. It brought me lots of oppourtunites, like mausi festivals and stuff, where i got to stay in other peoples homes and meet other band kids my own age. Chorus helped me realize how wrong it is to teach by rote and that singers SHOULD be able to read music, even if they think otherwise. Practicing music involves dicipline, and that is something that everyone needs regardless of their path in life.
