It's finally SUMMER!

I am in the best of moods. Three reasons:

Reason One: Work's been going really well. Straterra is apparently helping loads. We had a client come in for an audit, so there were also internal audits on each department, to make sure we were ready. Mine went super well. The person who retrained me said she was really impressed with how much of an improvement I had made since my retraining.  That made me happy. I'm able to handle even 6 gels now, when before 4 was a stretch for me. I've even been able to start learning new things!! HPLC, IR, UV., CE... No, I didn't just throw a string of letters together. Those are the tests I'm learning. Yay science! I've missed analytical machines.

Reason Two: I found out that the Oregon Zoo takes volunteers. And, (not immediately, of course) these volunteers can help with taking care of the animals, and research. The Wilsonite in me is really excited about the prospect of really meaningful and worthwhile volunteer work. The scientist in me is ready to jump at the chance to be affiliated with a zoo at all, especially if I may get to eventually help with research. The lazy part of me is complaining I won't have enough time, and that the training sessions will take up every Saturday in October (the next introductory session isn't until September, and the training sessions the following months are mandatory if you want to volunteer). I think the possible benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Reason Three:; It's FINALLY warm! It's supposed to be in the 80's and 90's until after Sunday. I think it's time to pull out the shorts. Finally. Yes, I know I live in the Northwest now, not the South, but 50's and 60's in mid-May is a bit extreme. I'm ready for warmth and pretty weather.

So, yeah, that;s what's up with me. More updates later!
