I found this link on Skepchic and was horrified. How can anyone, no matter what their culture or religious beliefs, think that it's OK for an 8-year-old to be married at all, let alone to a 30-year-old. I am totally amazed that this girl was able to go to the courts and report this and ask for help on her own, against her family's wishes. I'm not sure if I could do that now, let alone when I was 8. The fact that this is not an isolated occurrence breaks my head. And my heart. Yeesh.
