I don't think a writer has ever captivated me so as Truman Capote has. His work is addicting, I read in cold blood in one and a half days. I couldn't put it down, its so amazingly written.
I just watched Capote, which is about him writing the book. While watching it I began to hate him and pity him all at the same time.
It upsets me that he lies to Perry Smith, but only because i have read In cold Blood and am aware of Perry Smiths plight in life.
It is interesting that Capote is so tortured by his want to finish his book by Dick and Perry being put to Death but also having found a deep friendship in Perry so much so that he does not want him to die.
In Capote you can see the beginnings of his drinking that would eventually kill him.
He's like the poster child for tortured artist, writing that book kills him and its the last book he ever completes.
I am reading breakfast at Tiffany's right now, I am pacing myself through it, it is a lot shorter than In cold blood.
I bought his first Novel Other voices other rooms to read next.
I am going to be sad when i run out of his books.
So i guess what i am trying to say is to everyone...Go read In cold Blood EVERYONE should....you'll thank me later
