I went to San Francisco for a week, here's my thoughts in preferred format:
+ Stayed with my best friend from middle school
- had to share their one shower accessed only through their bedroom. Awkward to have to wait until all clear given.
+ They are fabulous hosts.
+ Super duper weather. Saw none of the fabled San Francisco fog
+ wine tour in Sonoma valley
- Couldn't buy all I would have liked to because of shipping/packing concerns
+got to see some beautiful scenery there and back
+ Sailing in San Francisco bay
++ I did not embarrass myself or my friends by getting ill on boat
- I don't care for the whole "let's appear to tip the boat over for a few extra knots of speed" I don't care to see the Pacific Ocean that up close and personal thanks!
+ Got to go over AND under the Golden Gate Bridge.
-my goodness, I didn't know riding on a boat could exhaust me so much! We all went back and slept for three hours.
+Went to Angel Island!
+++OMG good food of all types. Ate at one "chi chi" place where reservations take for ever. Meh. Don't see what the fuss was about.
+This is a place where they have restaurants devoted to specific regions of cuisine, not just generalizations. Like a Nepalese restaurant, not just Indian. Separate Hunan and Cantonese - not just "Chinese".
+ public transportation makes it much easier to get around than other West Coast cities I've visited.
-I got lost a few times
+ got to see a lot of the city I wouldn't have otherwise
+ my friend's friends are lovely and welcoming
+ lots of shops
- they are REALLY expensive and the clothes are not so much *me*. Seriously, $216 for a jacket?!
- As my friend had to work shopping in strange city not so much fun by myself.
++ super museums. Saw some fabulous exhibits at SF MOMA and Legion of Honor
-- there's so much to see, I couldn't do everything
+++I can go back A LOT!!
and + I'm home!!
