so, while i was at work one of my tables and i got into a discussion about politics. i have now realized why people say never discuss religion and politics; it ruins your tip. it was worth it though. sitting at my table was an older couple and the man had made a comment about me being a 'no good left handed broad' he said this in a very joking manner so i then said back 'uh oh you sound like one of those republicans' and thats when it started. he told me what my grandfather repeatedly has said to me "youre going to regret being a democrat when you lose all your money" so i just nodded my head and said 'i havent lost anything yet.' and he then asked me who i was going to vote for and naturally i said obama. i told him how i think his view points on the issues make sense, hes not a rash speaker, although i think he may be too young to hold a seat of power such as the presidency, and his foreign policy is not all that strong, he is still a sensible vote all around for president. this man's response was "yes, but hes muslim ya know" i really had a hard time believing that his answer to, what i thought was an intelligent statement was, 'hes muslim' so i looked at this guy and said 'that has nothing to do with becoming president, im not a racist person' and this ignorant outmoded bastard says to me 'we'll you should be.' i really could not believe that in the year 2007 someone was actually telling me to be racist and. so with a pile of dirty plates in my hands i stood and argued with a brick wall about how racism is a stereotype and people should be judged by their character, not their heritage and skin color. and then he says 'well most of them dont believe in god' and i wanted to lose it right there. obviously this man has never read or looked into anything about barack obama, other than what hes heard on fox news, that we have a crazy muslim running for president. obama is a christian, and no that has nothing to do with him becoming president, but the fact that he brought that up just made me relize i was arguing with the 'ignorant futile and incompetent generation disguised as wise intelectual republicans' i stopped arguing and said "well you know, all im going to say is that im not a racist person and whether people chose to believe in god or the devil, thats their choice and not mine, i can still respect them as people as long as they act like people' and then i left. they tipped me poorly...but then again i guess if they had tipped me better...itd just end up in the hands of those dammed leftist!
