I applied for a couple of research jobs at ETS over the weekend and I already got the rejection e-mail from them today. Amazingly quick turnaound. I didn't expect to get the jobs, being without educational research experience, but it would have been nice to work in Princeton. Whatever. I'm still not too stressed over not having a job yet. But it would be nice to be getting interviews. Idon't want to apply for anything I'm grossly overqualified for, but I don't want to be too selective either. I don't think I'm being too picky; it's not like I'm applying for jobs I don't feel qualified for. If I'm still not getting anywhere in a few weeks, I'll have to re-evaluate.
I started reading some Nelson DeMille books that my parents recently read. Currently, I'm on The Lion's Game. It's about a NYPD cop now working for an anti-terrorist group associated with the FBI. Not a bad book, but it's set in '93, between the first bombing of TWC and plane attack, so they're still standing in the book. Which isn't a problem, but the character in the book keeps alluding to what might've happened if the building had fallen, and if it had hit the North Tower what would have happened, and it's made it harder to read. I'm hoping that introspective part of the book has ended.
