Can't complain yet...

Home is good so far. Today I went to lunch with my mother, grandmother, and one of my mom's friends. We went to a tea room in Allentown. It was nice, but left something to be desired. Namely, timeliness. We got there around noon, and there was only one other group there. The server brought our teapots, but then not cups and saucers. Our lunch of sandwiches took a while longer, and then we decided to order dessert. It arrived about 35 minutes after we ordered it. And my mother still gave the girl a 15% tip. She's so much more generous than I would have been.

I talked to my dissertation chair after I got back. He was under the impression that I was still in Fresno, and was hopeful that I could come in to his office to discuss turning my dissertation into a journal article. Totally didn't understand when I told him at graduation that I was going back to NJ for good. Fortunately, he's flexible, and we're still going to work on the article over e-mail. Phew. :-P

I haven't done too much unpacking though, especially since I was out for 4 hours for lunch. I did unpack my printer and set it up for my mother to use, but everything else is still sitting in the kitchen. I need to move it tonight so the Home Depot guy can see the kitchen sans crap. He's going to do an estimate on the kitchen remodel, I think. Well, it has something to do with the kitchen remodel, at any rate. It seems I have moved back home just in time to not have a kitchen. Sweet.
