summary: Junghee is pregnant.
Slowly, almost mechanically, Taemin rubbed his forehead trying hard to focus on the upcoming performance. It never really worked, though. Quite the contrary; his thoughts were automatically drawn to something else. Like a piece of metal was drawn to a magnet. In Taemin’s case it was his pregnant (very pregnant) girlfriend: Kim Junghee.
// I should have stayed with her. This is just stupid. //
Trying to calm down, Taemin grabbed a bottle of water, taking a sip. It was the same bottle Junghee gave him (it had been too cute how she rolled after him) to ensure he drank enough during practicing.
// Nothing will happen to her … she’ll be alright … //
“Taemin!”
“Hm?” Taemin turned around, wiping the red bangs out of his eyes. “What’s wrong, Jinki hyung?”
Jinki was a music student who often accompanied Taemin during practice. Taemin really liked him and not only because it was Jinki who introduced Junghee to him. Jinki was a good and loyal friend, someone Taemin knew he could count on, no matter what.
“The baby’s coming.”
~
“Oh god! Oh god! Oh god!“
“I never noticed how manly you are, Taemin.”
“Oh my gooooood!” Whimpering, Taemin smashed his head against the car window on the right. Shortly after he got the good news Jinki had dragged him to his car and had pushed him inside. “Ooooooh goooood!”
“You sure you’re not exaggerating?” Jinki tilted his head in amusement.
“I’m not! …” Taemin puffed his cheeks out, “… I’m just a little … nervous. I’m not even sure if one can consider me an adult! I love toys and games and how am I supposed to share Junghee with someone else? I don’t want to share her!” Taemin sighed, scratching the back of his head.
“And just imagine something bad happens during birth! I’ve been having nightmares about losing her or the baby for nine months straight!” Taemin took a deep breath, looking over to his hyung. He had been listening patiently and silently, except some chuckles he hadn’t been able to hold in.
“You worry too much. Once you first see and hold the baby, everything will be fine. You’ll become a real daddy in time and then you’ll understand that sharing Junghee with your son or daughter isn’t all that bad.” Jinki smiled at his younger friend almost fatherly. “Talking about Junghee, she’ll be fine. She’s like indestructible and you know that.”
Taemin just rolled his eyes at that comment. It was true, though. It was dangerous to mess with Junghee, especially at times when she hadn’t had her morning milk tea.
A (former) friend of Taemin, they had met in a dance class, once made the mistake to call Junghee ‘sweetie’. That soon led to Junghee pulling his ears - in the truest sense of the word. Since then the poor guy, Taemin recalled his name being Taecyeon, was easily recognizable even over a large distance, thanks to his ears.
The red-haired chuckled, leaning back against the car seat. “You’re right, hyung. Junghee is indestructible.”
~
“Keep breathing! You have to keep breathing!”
Junghee screamed at the top of her lungs, burying her fingernails in the nightgown a nurse got for her. She didn’t even remember changing into that gown but of course there were other things she had to take care of first. “Get it out of me, god damn it! Taeeeemiiiiin!!!”
“I’m sorry but it will still take some time …” A doctor patted Junghee’s reassuringly. “It’s your first child, hm? They always take their time but you can it, sweetie.”
Only seconds later the same doctor (white as a sheet and with wide eyes) left the room in a hurry. However, before doing so he noted how the young lady should get as many painkillers as she herself deemed suitable.

After entering the maternity unit, Taemin had looked around rather frantically. It had taken him way too long to even get here and now he was lost. The traffic had been terrible and Taemin was quite sure that even old men were faster drivers than Jinki.
// Oh my god … // The red-haired felt his stomach clench almost painfully when he heard a woman screaming. It hadn’t been Junghee, Taemin knew his girlfriend’s voice better than anything else.
“Excuse me, can I help you?”
“Oh. Yes … Yes!” Taemin nodded, looking at the young nurse. “My girlfriend was hospitalized today. Her name is Kim Junghee and it’s our first child, I-” He stopped talking when he noticed how the nurse took a small step back. The blank face in front of him let him know that the nurse knew exactly who he was talking about.
“Follow me, please.”
“How is she? How’s the baby?” It was frustrating that he never got a reply but he couldn’t care less when the nurse opened the door to a room, waiting for him to enter.
~
“Baby!” Taemin hurried over to the bed, holding back the urge to press his girlfriend close to his chest. “How are you? What about the baby? Did you already have it?”
Junghee tiredly looked up. The baby in her arms kept sleeping peacefully. “What do you think?”
“Oh …” Taemin blinked. Junghee held a baby in her arms. His baby was actually holding a baby! “… OH!”
Chuckling, Junghee leaned back in her pillow. “Your worst nightmare came true, Tae. I’m so sorry.” Lovingly, the young mother caressed her child’s soft cheek. “It’s a girl.”
“Oh.” Carefully, Taemin sat down on the edge of the bed, eyeing his daughter. It was still hard to believe that he actually was the father of the little miracle. “If she becomes half as beautiful as her mother, I’m really screwed.”
“Hm.” Junghee raised an eyebrow at him. “Now stop sucking up, I’m still angry because you weren’t here.”
“I really tried to be here in time, baby. I’d have loved to be here, even if I’m quite sure that I’d blacked out or something.” Sighing, Taemin leaned forward, planting a kiss on his girlfriend’s cheek. “Besides, my big girl did a great job without me.”
“Of course, what did you think?” Junghee smirked, cuddling up to her boyfriend when he pulled her into a soft embrace. “I don’t always need your help …”
“No, you don’t.” Taemin softly caressed the baby’s tummy. “She’s so perfect and beautiful.” The red-haired kissed the small head. “I love you, little one.” Still smiling, he looked over to Junghee. “And you too, my awesome girl.”
Almost a little embarrassed, Junghee craned her neck slightly, happily responding to the kiss Taemin leaned in for. “I love you, too, Tae.” Smiling, she hugged her daughter closer to her chest. “Just like Gwiboon loves her daddy.”
“Gwiboon, hm?” Taemin chuckled. Gwiboon was Junghee’s best friend who now lived in Japan because of work. It was quite cute that Junghee now wanted to name their daughter after her best friend. “I like the idea, baby.”
Baby-Gwiboon chortled silently, making her dad smile proudly. It was about time he held his daughter for the first time. The bottom line is he never got the chance.
Gwiboon had just opened her eyes ever so slightly. She yawned cutely and then, without even the slightest warning, she started to cry. Clenching her little fists, she kept crying and whining.
Taemin sighed almost inaudibly but smiled nonetheless. Gwiboon seemed to have the same power in her voice as her mother.
PERFECT.
Yes, believe it or not but I'm still alive. x/D I wrote this piece of junk more than ... five months ago during an university class. I kinda liked the thought of Taemin taking care of Junghee then and I still think it's cute. xD
Well, I hope you enjoyed it x3 and sorry about my English ... I'm still in need of a beta-reader. xX Time to start searching, I guess xD
