I sort of disagree on a level, because to me, Mal is his state of mind in the movie. Both things are very personal to Cobb, but I get where I went wrong. The reason behind this was to push the next scenes, but also because Ariadne was hoping that Cobb would find someone in their team that understands him, even if it might not be Arthur. The story is established in a setting where the team have worked together a lot, where they're in a deeper relationship with each other than in the movie

Okay, I have absolutely no idea why I didn't comment here in the first place, but OMG still guh.

Also the fact that it's apparently been a little less than a year and I can still mostly tell which parts are the same and which parts are even better than they were before says a lot about how much I liked this. That said, I liked the original for the kink; I like this version (or rather, what I can see the finished/rewritten version being) for the story and how the kink is incorporated into it.

(A question: would you mind terribly if I went over to InceptionKink and posted something under the prompt about the fill being Closed During Remodeling? The only thing there is a frustrated, swearing Dalek wondering why it's saying access denied.)
