i fucking loathe broadcast news and everything it pretends to offer to society, everything it openly and secretly values and furthermore, the pretentiousness that their megalomania persona exerts.
there are a few exceptions (as with everything), and the merging multi-media world is beginning to at least pseudo grasp certain newsworthy aspects, but the majority of it (and how it is taught, graded and regarded at my school) makes me want to vomit. just because something doesn't have movement, isn't exciting to look at and doesn't accost the eye immediately, doesn't mean it shouldn't be covered.
thank god i was forced to take broadcast newswriting and reporting (along with my desired print classes), if only to solidify my disdain for it.
