Let me tell you about how much fun I have been having...
So, I am in my second week as an English Teacher and it is never a dull moment. I try hard to be a great English teacher, but I feel bad because I am credentialed for Social Studies. Oh well, most of the students seem to like me, but the last two periods take things a little too far. It is unfortunate for them because I like students to have fun, but not to the detriment of the lesson...so DIE 5th and 6th. I am putting the smackdown on them this week.
I applied to LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) because I will be in LA next year. It is a little daunting, but whatever. I will save you the long version of the story. Basically I applied to LAUSD and the interviewer thought that I did not have the right papers (ie MY CREDENTIAL) so I had to run back in forth on campus in DRESS SHOES (because it was almost 5 and everything closes then) in order to prove I was an eligible candidate. Also she decided that I had classroom management issues and so I had to talk my way out of that. BUT apparently I am flexible and can work ANYWHERE in LA...um, NO!
FUN STORY NOW!!!
Part of the stuff I was apparently missing were evaluations from all of my student teaching positions. Now I had letters of recommendations, but apparently LA needs more (its not like they have a shortage of teachers or anything). SO, I have to go back to both placements including the DEVIL Junior High teacher from last year.
So I pay a visit to britney, she reluctantly fills out my stuff, but I need the principals signature. So, she tells me to try and find him, but he is not on campus. The secretary tells me to come tomorrow because he has nothing scheduled. So I come the next day. I find him (without anyone's help in the office because they are two busy looking up pictures of flowers) and tell him that I was wondering fi I could get his signature so that I can be hireable in LAUSD.
He tells me to come to his office and then he goes off about how I do not have an appointment and how I cannot expect to just WALK IN and get a signature. He then tells me that I am very unprofessional and that no one will hire someone as unprofessional as myself. "You should know as a student teacher what appropriate behavior is and that what you did today was highly unproffesional." Then, he sees that Britney has signed it and says, "Well I guess if Britney signed it is okay, but I have to check first." So, he leaves to find BRITNEY and then he comes back and calls her. She says okay and he signs it for me, but before handing it too me, he tells me how upset he is with me for not being professional...blah blah blah. Is say "I'm sorry." I wanted to say, "I'm sorry you are an asshole!" but I didn't.
What an ass! I never demanded a signature, he could have told me that I needed to make an appointment and I gladly would have. BUT, Britney had told me to get his signature and the secretary lady had told me to come the next day...so NOT MY FAULT...but whatever I got the signature and he can die.
